Hill Walk (easy) Dublin Mtns. Glencree to Kippure

Walk : Easy Hill walk from Glencree Peace and Reconciliation Centre to Kippure and return

Meeting Point:  Glencree Peace and Reconciliation Centre . Postcode A98 D635, 

Meeting Time: 10.00AM

Walk Start Time: 10.30AM

Route: We take the road from Glencree and walk a track to Kippure . After lunch on Kippure we return to the Armoury Coffee Shop (check Facebook Page ) in the centre at approx 2.30PM.They offer a full meal service and have a bar licence.

Distance: 16.6  KM

Height : Summit  1066m ; Total ascent 400 M from Glencree

Duration:   4.5 to 5 hours including breaks

Leader’s Note: OPTIONAL This is an easy hill walk with gentle rise on the mountain road and track. Boots are required and sticks will be welcome but there is little need for gaiters. 

Directions from Skerries: Take the M50 to junction 12 and exit for Firhouse. Take the Military Rd via Kilakee,The Hellfire Club and Massey’s Wood across the Dublin Mountains to Glencree Peace and Reconciliation Centre A98 D635.

 Approx time 1hr 20min.  Parking and toilets are free.

Covid-19 related: Before the walk you will be asked to confirm that a)you have not been outside the country in the last 14 days,  b) you have no symptoms of Covid 19 (cough, fever, shortness of breath, loss of smell/taste) and c) you have not been in contact with any confirmed Covid 19 case or been told to isolate in the last 14 days. If you cannot answer NO to all 3 questions, please do not come on the walk.

General:

Leave No Trace: the club is a supporter of the Leave No Trace campaign so please ensure that you leave no litter (of any sort) on the hike route

Clothing/Equipment: please ensure that, at the very least, you have either hiking boots or walking shoes (no trainers) and depending on weather forecast, multiple layers including a warm jacket/ fleece, hat and gloves, a waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers, a flask with a hot drink, food, snacks and water. 

 If unsure about the required gear or your ability to undertake the walk please check with the walk leader in advance.
