This is a very pleasant 12km/3.5 hr Easy Ramble with a loop route from Ashtown, taking in the Ashtown Visitors Centre, then over to the Papal Cross, down to the Magazine Fort, across by the cricket grounds to the Tea Rooms, around the Peoples’ Garden and across to the Wellington Monument, returning to Ashtown via the 15 Acres, the Knockmaree Dolmen, the Furry Glen Pond and the Ordnance Survey, followed by a short stretch of the Royal Canal Way (see map attached for reference). Refreshments & food for those who want to relax at the end of the walk in the adjoining Lock Keeper Bar. For those driving there is on-street parking both just straight over the level crossing and along the road immediately to the left at Ashtown coming from the Navan Rd. direction.
