Hill Walk (easy) Tibradden/ 2 Rock

Walk: Moderate hillwalk loop. 

Meeting Point: Tibradden Wood Carpark/Zipit Forest Adventures Carpark

Meeting Time: 9.30am

Walk Start Time: 10.45am

Route: We will meet at the Tibradden Wood carpark and follow the red markers to Tibradden mountain passing the cairn. We will continue along the Wicklow Way/Dublin Mountain Way (yellow markers) towards Fairy Castle 536m. 

We will continue to Three Rock. We should get good views of Dublin city and south to Wicklow. We then turn towards Ticknock on the mountain trail before turning off onto a path leading back towards Tibradden-Fairy Castle trail. We will then rejoin the path back to Tibradden car park.

Distance: Approximately 14km

Duration:  Approximately 4 hours including breaks

Leader’s Note: This is a moderate hillwalk mainly on hard core path. There may be some uneven, muddy ground. Poles may be useful.

Directions from Skerries: Take the M50 south to Junction 12 towards Firhouse/Ballycullen R113. Turn right onto R113 St Colmcille’s Way. Left onto Ballycullen Rd. Drive straight through 2 roundabouts. Turn left onto The Gunny Rd R113. Turn right onto Killakee Rd/ Military Rd/Killakee Rd R115. Turn left onto Cruagh Rd. Continue onto Ballyboden Rd R116. Then left into Zipit Forest Adventures/Tibradden Wood carpark. (About 60 mins)

The R116 from Edmonstown is closed, only open to local traffic.

General:

Leave No Trace: the club is a supporter of the Leave No Trace campaign so please ensure that you leave no litter (of any sort) on the hike route

Clothing/Equipment: please ensure that, at the very least, you have either hiking boots or walking shoes (no trainers) and depending on weather forecast, multiple layers including a warm jacket/ fleece, hat and gloves, a waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers, a flask with a hot drink, food, snacks and water. 

 If unsure about the required gear or your ability to undertake the walk please check with the walk leader in advance.
