Type of walk | Coastal ramble with stops for talks and some rock pooling, marine life identification.
We will be on coastal and cliff path, some foot path and shoreline. From Tower Bay we will be going down the shoreline towards the Brook/Burrow beach for some rock pooling and identification (optional). There will be uneven ground and wet underfoot on the path and shoreline. |

Proposed walk | The walk will include information about St Ita’s hospital and locality, as well as some rock pooling and identification of marine life.
We will start by walking past the Shoreline Hotel on the coastal path, continue along the cliff path to Tower Bay Portrane. From Tower Bay we will continue along the shoreline to the Brook/Burrow beach Portrane. Stops at the hospital graveyard, Tayleur anchor, Stella’s Tower, walk to the entrance gates to St Ita’s Hospital. Walk up the avenue to the front of the hospital, down past the playing fields and meet up at the coastal path again to return to the hotel for (optional) coffee. |

Directions from Skerries | Head towards Blake Cross on R132, turn left on to Turvey/Donabate Road, Pass Donabate train station/humpback bridge, take next right before church towards the Shoreline Hotel. Alternatively drive to Donabate Interchange, take R126, Hearse Road towards Donabate, stay on the ring road. At the second set of traffic lights take right to the Shorline Hotel and public car park.

Communication | For ease of communication a WhatsApp group will be set up for the group coming on this walk. If you do not wish to be included, please let the leader know when registering your interest in the walk. |
Leave No Trace | The club is a supporter of the Leave No Trace campaign so please ensure that you leave no litter (of any sort) on the hike route. |
Clothing/Equipment | Please ensure that, at the very least, you have either hiking boots or walking shoes (no trainers) and depending on weather forecast, multiple layers, including a warm jacket/fleece, hat and gloves, a waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers, a flask with a hot drink, food, snacks and water.
