Ramble Royal Canal

Meeting Point: Skerries Train Station
Time: Meet at 08:40 a.m. departing on 08:53 a.m. train
Walk Starting point: Caffè Nero, Excise Walk (in off the Liffey, around the corner from the Spencer Hotel)

Route: Royal Canal Way from the Convention Centre on the Liffey as far as Clonsilla

Leader’s Note:
The Royal Canal Way is a most interesting and pleasant walk. Starting at the Convention Centre (where the canal meets the River Liffey) we follow the Royal Canal Way past Croke Park, lovely double-chamber lock systems and the spectacular Navan Road Interchange (where the N3 roundabout, the railway line and the Royal Canal cross over the M50) as far as Clonsilla where we will catch the train back to Dublin Connolly and onwards to Skerries.
We will meet at Skerries Train Station at 08.40 a.m. to catch the 08.53 a.m. train to Connolly arriving at 09.29. We will catch a Luas then to meet at 09.45 in Caffè Nero, Excise Walk (in off Mayor Square-NCI Luas stop) for a quick coffee & scone before heading off on the walk and joining the Royal Canal at the Convention Centre. Refreshments in the Clonsilla Inn at the end of the walk (a 12 min. walk from the train station) for those who want to relax after it. Plenty of trains from Clonsilla back to Dublin Connolly, then onwards to Skerries.
