This is an EASY HILLWALK – NOT A RAMBLE

1) Please ensure that, at the very least, you have hiking boots (no trainers), multiple layers including a warm jacket/fleece, hat and gloves, a waterproof jacket and trousers, snacks, a litre of water and a small rucksack. If you are unsure about your gear check with leader a few days beforehand as anyone turning up with inadequate gear will not be permitted to walk.

2) It is highly recommended that you do not wear any clothing made from DENIM/CORDUROY/COTTON on the hike.

3) The club is a supporter of the ‘Leave No Trace’ campaign so please ensure that you leave no litter (of any sort) on the hike route.

4) NEVER go ahead of the Leader without being sure of the way!

Leader’s Note:

It has been just over a year since we last did this walk on 13 Feb. 2019. So well nigh time to do it again! Bray Head offers a delightful, varied walk. This is a very pleasant 13km walk along the Bray to Greystones coastal cliff path above rocky coves and small promontories, followed by a high level walk via Windgates and Bray Head Summit back towards Bray and the viewpoint at the Summit Cross. There is one short steep stretch down from the Cross where walking poles would be very useful. The walk starts and finishes at Bray Train Station. Total walk time is 3.5 hrs.

We will meet at Skerries Train Station to catch the 08.52 train to Pearse, then the 09.39 Rosslare Europort train to Bray arriving at 10.20. We will have a coffee & croissant in Café Lettario, Albert Walk across from the station before we head off on the walk. Refreshments and lunch then at the end in The Martello (on the seafront – 5 mins. from the train station) for those who want to relax after it.  NB No sandwich required on the walk as there is no lunch ‘pit stop’ on mid-week walks.
