This is an EASY RAMBLE

1) Please ensure that, at the very least, you have walking shoes (no trainers), and depending on the weather forecast – multiple layers including a warm jacket/fleece, hat and gloves, a waterproof jacket and trousers, a flask with a hot drink, sandwiches/snacks, a litre of water and a small rucksack. If you are unsure about your gear check with leader a few days beforehand as anyone turning up with inadequate gear will not be permitted to walk.

2) It is highly recommended that you do not wear any clothing made from DENIM/CORDUROY/COTTON on the hike.

3) The club is a supporter of the ‘Leave No Trace’ campaign so please ensure that you leave no litter (of any sort) on the hike route.

4) NEVER go ahead of the Leader without being sure of the way!

Leader’s Note:

This is a very pleasant Easy Ramble (loop walk) starting off through Newbridge Demesne, then along the new Donabate bye-pass to Portrane Demesne with its woodland trail and grounds of St. Ita’s Hospital, before taking the coastal cliff walk to the Shoreline Hotel at Donabate Beach (where we will take a break – bring a sandwich) with lovely coastal views along the way – south to Howth and the Dublin Mountains and east across to Lambay Is. From there the walk continues past the Corballis Golf Clubs, returning to Newbridge Demesne along the shore of Malahide Estuary. Post walk coffee & scone in Jones’ Garden Centre Café for those who might want to relax a while after it.

Please email or text leader John Coleman by Tuesday 13th Oct. if you intend going on the walk along with mob. phone number for contact. Places are limited due to Covid-19 restrictions and will be on a first come, first served basis (no Guests allowed at present unfortunately).
