Leader’s Note:
The route is as follows: Piers Gate Car Park – Through the woods to the JB Malone Memorial – Great views of Lough Tay – Follow the Wicklow Way to White Hill (630m) – Then on to make the ascent from the south of Djouce Mountain (725m) – We then descend Djouce to the east – Re-joining the Wicklow Way – Retuning to White Hill – Then the JB Malone Memorial – And back to the Car Park. Much of the route is on defined track and boardwalk so is not difficult under-foot. Walking poles, if you use them, would be useful. The ascent to Djouce is the steepest of the climbs and is about 0.5km in duration. Modifications to the route can be made, depending on the group and weather conditions on the day. Piers Gate car park is a popular starting point for walks, it has lots of space, with a coffee horse box and 2 x Portaloo Toilets, it does fill up which is why we are starting at 9.30am.
Directions from Skerries:
Or the Coffee Horse box at Piers Gate car park: Aroma Coffee Van
Driving time from Skerries to Piers Gate car park is about 1 hour and 15 mins.
