Leader’s Note: This is a lovely ease back into hillwalking after Christmas. We will start at the public car park at the west pier (immediately after the Bloody Stream, free parking, link to google maps above) walking towards the east pier (where there are toilet facilities available). We have an initial climb to start the walk, following the purple arrows taking the path along the cliffs to beyond Red Rock. Passing the Baily Lighthouse and then follow the path to the Martello tower. We’ll cross over the busy Carrickbrack Road and then we’re in the hillside section. The track takes us around the shoulder of Sheilmartin Hill and we enter the golf course crossing through. This takes us into the Bog of Frog area where we follow the track through to the wooded area and back down to Howth Dart Station. You will be rewarded with stunning views all around the route namely the Great Sugar Loaf, Wicklow Mountains, Aviva Stadium, Dublin Airport and much more. Depending on energy levels we may divert up to Deerpark viewing point and down through Howth Castle.
WhatsApp : For ease of communication a WhatsApp group will be set up for the group coming on this walk. If you do not wish to be included please let the leader know when registering your interest in the walk.
