Ramble Malahide/ Sutton/ Raheny

Walk : Malahide/Sutton/Dollymount/St Anne’s/Raheny Ramble

Meeting Point: Malahide Dart Station 

Meeting Time: 10.55am

Walk Start Time: 11.00am

Route: Malahide to Portmarnock along seafront. From Portmarnock continue on Velvet Strand and the new Greenway to Sutton Dart Station (approx 2.5hrs). Stop for Coffee and lunch (bring your own) , if anyone wants to leave there is a frequent (every 20 mins)  direct bus back to Malahide Station.

After Lunch 

Continue to Sutton Village and turn along seafront towards Dublin. We pass the wonderful Tree Sculptures and stop for a break and some pictures. Continue through St Anne’s Park and on to Raheny Dart Station to finish around 4.00pm

Distance: approx. 16 KM

Height : No Ascent all at sea level except up the hill from Clontarf to Raheny approx 100m.

Duration:   5 hours including breaks

 

Please Text the leader by night before if you intend going on the walk

Leader’s Note: We walk on beaches ,footpaths ,greenway and parkland  No need for sticks or gaiters boots are advised as beach can be wet. 

Directions from Skerries: Train from Skerries @ 10.32 arrive Malahide 10:46 . Fare is €2.50 single …..Daily Parking charge is €3.50 cash .card or Apcoa App. 

Covid-19 related: Walkers are advised that they will be asked to confirm that they have no Covid-19 like symptoms and agree to walk at their own risk.  The organisers cannot accept any liability in the event of injury/Covid-19 infection

WhatsApp ::for ease of communication a Whats App group will be set up for the group coming on this walk. If you do not wish to be included please let the leader know when registering your interest in the walk. 

General:

Leave No Trace: the club is a supporter of the Leave No Trace campaign so please ensure that you leave no litter (of any sort) on the hike route

Clothing/Equipment: please ensure that, at the very least, you have either hiking boots or walking shoes (no trainers) and depending on weather forecast, multiple layers including a warm jacket/ fleece, hat and gloves, a waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers, a flask with a hot drink, food, snacks and water. 

 If unsure about the required gear or your ability to undertake the walk please check with the walk leader in advance.
