Ramble Salthill/ Monkstown/ Killiney Hill

Walk: Dublin Bay , Salthill and Monkstown Dart Station / Dun Laoghaire, Dalkey, Killiney Hill, Dalkey, Dun Laoghaire, Salthill and Monkstown Dart Station.
Meeting Point: Salthill and Monkstown Dart Station, Dublin, Parking with Credit Card (no app or cash) €4.50 per day.
Walk Start Time: 10.15am
Route:. Pass through, , Monkstown, Dun Laoghaire, Dalkey, Killiney . Dun Laoghaire via The Metals and return to Salthill and Monkstown Dart Station. All of this is road, beach and park walking along the coast, moving at a reasonable pace but if you start to sweat we can slow down We stop for takeaway coffee and toilets in Dun Laoghaire around 11.30 .For lunch we will stop for 15 mins on the coast around Dalkey at about 13.00 . We then take the Vico Road into the park for takeaway coffee and up Killiney Hill (153m) , down into Dalkey Town and finish at Salthill and Monkstown Dart Station via The Metals around 16.00.
You will need a reasonable level of fitness, walking boots, a sense of humour.
It will be cold so I intend to keep moving where possible. However this is not a race if you want a sweaty workout at speed forget it, stay in bed. If you are worried about your fitness level we pass 6 Dart Stations we also have at least 2 coffee stops.
We return to Salthill and Monkstown Dart Station at approx 16.00pm
I intend to, where possible, avoid crowds or going indoors (due to Covid) .
Distance: approx. 16KM
Height : Mostly at sea level except from Dalkey to Killiney Hill approx 153m.
Duration: 6 hours including breaks
Please Text the leader by night before if you intend going on the walk
Leader’s Note: We walk on beaches ,footpaths, greenway and parkland. Sticks are recommended and boots are needed as beach will be wet.

General:
Leave No Trace: the club is a supporter of the Leave No Trace campaign so please ensure that you leave no litter (of any sort) on the hike route
Clothing/Equipment: please ensure that, at the very least, you have either hiking boots or walking shoes (no trainers) and depending on weather forecast, multiple layers including a warm jacket/ fleece, hat and gloves, a waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers, a flask with a hot drink, food, snacks and water.
