Spring Clean Up
April 26, 2023
Skerries Walking Club has registered for the National Spring Clean UP on Wednesday April 26th . We will meet at Red Island Car Park (the one closest to the harbour) at 2pm. We will start at the carpark and then proceed towards the Lifeboat House and the beach at the back of the harbour. We will continue along the Harbour Road, Quay Street and the North Beach to Hoar Rock doing our litter-pick/clean up as we go.
National Spring Clean is Ireland’s most popular, well recognized and successful anti-litter initiative, now in its 22nd year. The campaign encourages every sector of society to actively participate andtake responsibility for litter, by conducting clean ups in their own local environment. National Spring Clean traditionally takes place throughout the month of April.
This is Skerries Walking Club’s second year to participate. We are asking as many members as possible to come out on the day and help clean up our local area and make this year’s national event the largest yet.
Please contact our Environmental Officer/walk leader Emer Mc Loughlin, Loughlin.emermc@gmail.com if you would like to participate. We will have a limited supply of gloves, HI-Viz vests, bags, sanitiser to share. Skerries Tidy Towns will join us and will have some litterpickers to share. Please bring your own gloves and litter pickers if you have them.
