Ramble St. Anne’s Park/North Bull Is. 

Meeting Point: Skerries Train Station

Time:  Meet at 08:40 a.m. departing on 08:52 a.m. train

Walk Starting point:  Killester DART Station     Walk Starting Time: 09.30 a.m.

Route: St. Anne’s Park – North Bull Is. and return (loop walk) 

Distance: 13 km

Duration: 3.5 – 4 hrs (inc. coffee time)

Leader’s Note:

This is a very enjoyable loop ramble which begins in St. Anne’s Park, with its lovely Rose Garden, and then exits onto the coastal walk in Clontarf. We will cross the wooden bridge onto North Bull Island and follow the walkway to its conclusion at the Star of the Sea Statue. This gives fantastic views to Dublin Bay, the Pigeon House, Poolbeg and the cityscape of south Dublin. Our walk then heads northwards along the beach. We will exit the island via the Causeway and return to St. Anne’s Park where we will follow the Naniken River, taking in the Walled Garden inc. the Physic Garden (medicinal herbs) and the Chinese Garden along the way, then back to Killester by the main avenue of the Park.

We will meet at Skerries Train Station to catch the 08.52 train to Malahide, then the 09.12 DART to Killester, arriving 09.28. A 30 min. walk from the Station to the Red Stables for a coffee and scone before heading off on the walk at 10.30 a.m. Food and drink at the end of the walk in the Beachcomber, Killester for those who wish to relax after it. NB No sandwich required as going for a bite to eat after the walk.  

For anyone going to drive – there is plenty of free car parking on Furry Park Road (off Howth Rd., opposite the road leading to Killester DART station) along which we will be walking to enter St. Anne’s Park.
