Ramble Easy) Donabate/ Portrane

Meeting Point: Shoreline Hotel, Donabate

Time:  Meet 10.20 a.m.  

Walk Starting Point:  Shoreline Hotel  Walk Starting Time: 10.30 a.m.

Route: Loop walk – coastal path from Donabate Beach through Portrane Demesne

to Portrane, then along Rogerstown Estuary to Portrane beach and return via Tower Bay Beach back to the Shoreline Hotel.

Distance: 13 km

Duration: 3-3.5 hours

This is an EASY RAMBLE 

 Leader’s Note:

This is a very pleasant Easy Ramble, taking in Portrane Demesne (the grounds of St. Ita’s)  with its short forest trail, followed by lovely coastal views – south to Howth and the Dublin/Wicklow mountains and east across to Lambay Is., along the way. NB Bring a sandwich for lunch stop half way along.

We will meet at the Shoreline Hotel beside Donabate Beach/Martello Tower. Plenty of car parking available both along the road and in the car park back along it. Possibility of a coffee from the van at the hotel at the end of the walk as it is closed midweek in winter.

Directions from Skerries:

Take next turn left after Blakes Cross on the R132, left at T-junction, left again at T-junction and over the railway bridge, then immediately right and straight on down the road to the hotel.  Journey time: 20-25 mins.
