November 26, 2022

This walk has been cancelled due to a marathon taking place in this area on the day.

Route: Clontarf seafront, over the wooden bridge, Bull Island, Dollymount beach, St Anne’s Park, return to the car park.

Meeting Point: Clontarf seafront car park (opposite the Yacht Bar).  Google maps link to Clontarf seafront car park Maps

Meeting Time: 9:40am

Walk Start Time: 9:50am

Distance: 12.5km, easy ramble.

Height: None, all at sea level

Duration: 3.5/4 hours (including breaks)

Leader’s Note:  This is always a super ramble with stunning views of Wicklow and Howth in fine weather once we get on to Bull Wall.  We will walk from Clontarf seafront car park along the promenade that was reclaimed from the sea in the 1920s.  The promenade is always busy with joggers, runners, dog walking and cycling.  We will pass the old Clontarf baths (and newly opened restaurant), continue along the promenade and walk over the wooden bridge built in 1819 and down Bull Wall as far as the sea to Our Lady, Star of the Sea statue.  Then onto Dollymount beach, causeway road to St Anne’s Park to the Tree of Life.  We’ll walk through the park and back to the seafront and return to the car park.

Note: There can be a chilly breeze on this walk, please make sure that you have plenty of layers, gloves, hat and scarf.

Train leaves Skerries 08:57am, change at Howth Junction/Donaghmede for the DART, arrives Clontarf Station 9:35am.

Please Text the leader by Friday 25th November if you intend to go on the walk.

WhatsApp: for ease of communication a Whatsapp group will be set up for the group coming on this walk. If you do not wish to be included please let the leader know when registering your interest in the walk.
