Ramble Newtown Butler to Crom

Walk : Newtownbutler Co Fermanagh to Crom Estate and return.
Meeting Point: Newtownbutler Presbyterian Church/ Sharkey’s Hardware Drumcru Rd.
Walk Start Time: 11.00am
Route: We walk back roads through the Fermanagh countryside to Crom Estate on the shores of Lough Erne. Take a look at the map/pictures/video/route below, the video was made on Jan 4th by Pat Clarke and myself.

The yellow houses in the first picture is where we will park. They are nearly opposite the Hardware and Church.

Leader’s Note: Boots and rain gear needed it could be muddy on the estate.

Bring a sandwich to enjoy in the open air in Crom. There is indoor seating and a small museum . There is also a public toilet and showers if you wish. We walk the shores of the lake and vsisit the island and walled garden. We do not enter the castle.

If anybody is unsure of getting there I can meet them in Kells at 9.30 am.
You can also drive to Cavan Town, take the road to Butlersbridge and follow the signs for Newtownbutler.

General:
Leave No Trace: the club is a supporter of the Leave No Trace campaign so please ensure that you leave no litter (of any sort) on the hike route
Clothing/Equipment: please ensure that, at the very least, you have either hiking boots or walking shoes (no trainers) and depending on weather forecast, multiple layers including a warm jacket/ fleece, hat and gloves, a waterproof jacket, waterproof trousers, a flask with a hot drink, food, snacks and water.
